Planet Reverb is a place where I can share any social, political, or economic commentary on today's society. Also, it's a place for me to bitch about my day.
And who are you?
My name is Jeff Marks, and I'm a 27 year old chemical engineer living in Delaware. In my spare time I write and produce independent films.
So?
So I've got shit to say, alright?
Fine, so long as it's funny.
Whatever.
So what's with the name 'Planet Reverb'?
Well, Planet Reverb was originally created to be a print zine to interview musicians in the Philadelphia area and to review new relases and upcoming bands. To be honest, it was a bit much to take on by myself, and eventually, I had to choose between publishing Planet Reverb, or operating Marks Bros. Productions.
And what's Marks Bros. Productions?
It's an independent film production company that I own and operate in Delaware.
And by 'own and operate'...
Our first independent feature film, "A Starry Night" is currently nearing the end of post-production.
And you intend to post in this journal everyday?
Well, let's be realistic. Currently, the plan is to post an entry every day during the week, and sporadically on weekends. I mean c'mon, I'm single so the chances of me being home on weekends are pretty slim to begin with. I could be at my parents' house in Baltimore, or with my brother in DC, or with friends in Philly. Hell, I could be hangin' on a street corner in Madagascar. The point is, don't expect an entry on the weekend. But come Monday morning, one should be posted.
Well I guess that's fair.
You damn right.
So how did Planet Reverb evolve from a print zine to an online journal?
Actually, it all started the in early February, 2003, when I was reading an entry in Uncle Bob's Journal and I wrote a post on his message board disagreeing with him, and pointing out some of the more everyday benefits of the US Space Program. Anyway, a lot of people wrote me complimenting my post, and Uncle Bob gave me mad props in his next journal entry. Anyway, a fair amount of people who emailed me, were interested if I posted anywhere, as they were interested in reading some more of my writing. So, with the stars properly aligned, I brought out the defibrulator and revived Planet Reverb into the form yoy now see it.
